Sonoma County Needed a Solid Tree Protection Ordinance. We got one!

The Protect Our Working Woodlands group prepared a white paper (see below) explaining the background and need for strong science based tree protections in Sonoma County.

We, unlike many other areas, still have trees.  Many might not be aware, however, that the county approved many proposals that cleared our shared woodlands off the landscape under previous County rules.   The County issued over counter permits even for very large clearing proposals without mitigating efforts, environmental review, or public Notice.  Now, after many years of public pressure by Forest Unlimited and allied organizations, the County revised its tree policies in two new ordinances!  One protects trees in general and another specifically protects Oak Woodlands.
